Books by Julie Garwood. Of course his efforts were rewarded by her newly-reawakened sexual cravings. I’m not normally a fan of villain POV’s, and I still wasn’t for this book, but I guess it was a good way to characterize the villain?
No stupid misunderstandings, either. Garwood created a somewhat sympathetic villain, lonely, alone, and hungry for love. That talk between Avery and John Paul was the emotional payoff that writers so often deny readers. Hard to imagine how a romance could be squeezed in but it was and it worked.
Avery arrives at the spa thinking she is meeting her Aunt Carrie for a nice week away. It just isn’t on the same level as Mercy and John Paul and Avery deserved more romance. The author of numerous bestsellers, she lives near Kansas City, Missouri.
To say anything more about the plot would spoil the fun. Julie Garwood is among the most critically acclaimed—and popular—romance authors around, published in thirty-two languages worldwide with forty million copies of her books in print. Also, I had a hard time buying the whole story line of the hit man falling for Jilly and doing some of the stupid stuff he did.

Garwood knows well how to build conflict. Solid narration by Joyce Bean. I also liked that some of the other characters – namely Aunt Carrie – had bigger parts. But soon she will have to use every one of her adroit skills on a case that hits painfully close to home.

John Paul soon realizes that their goals align, since the assassin he’s after is responsible for Avery’s aunt’s disappearance and the two form an uneasy partnership to solve the case.
It is a part of Julie Garwood ‘s Buchanan series which is her first time moving away from the historical romance genre into contemporary romanic suspense.
